今天，寧波諾丁漢大學執行校長陸明彥教授(Professor Chris Rudd) 和其他49名外國專家一起被浙江省政府授予“西湖友誼獎”。
西湖友誼獎是浙江省政府授予在浙外國專家的最高獎項，以表彰在浙江經濟建設和社會發展中做出突出貢獻的外國專家。 陸校長因其對中英高等教育發展和合作作出杰出貢獻獲得了今年的“西湖友誼獎。”
000000000000 》》》 陸校長說：“這份榮譽不僅屬于我個人，更屬于寧波諾丁漢大學的全體師生。 2004年，浙江省和寧波市大膽決定，引入世界百強大學英國諾丁漢大學的優質資源，建立中國第一所中外合作大學。十多年來，在省、市政府的支持下，寧波諾丁漢大學已經成為跨國教育合作的典范。我一直堅信，寧波諾丁漢大學不僅是中國第一所，而且是中國最好的中外合作大學！ 從寧諾走出去的優秀畢業生們受到全球名企和世界頂尖高校的認可，出國深造的畢業生中有90%選擇學成歸國建設地方經濟。寧諾鼓勵學校的專家學者們探索應用型知識和開展實用性科研項目，寧諾實驗室產出的許多研究成果已經成功轉化為現實問題的解決方案，這是學校對地方支持和信任的回報，也是學校助力城市、地域經濟發展作出的應有貢獻。 這次頒發的西湖友誼獎不僅是我個人的榮譽，也是對當年那個大膽決定的認可，我希望中英雙方能對寧諾的發展及因此帶來的巨大效益感到滿意。寧諾15歲生日即將來臨，我們也將繼續致力于教學質量、科研能力的提升，肩負社會責任，為地方發展貢獻自己的力量。”
陸校長在中國以及與中國相關的事業方面十分活躍，在推動中英合作與友誼領域做出了令人矚目的貢獻。他是諾丁漢大學孔子學院的理事長、吉林大學客座教授。陸校長還是英中貿易理事會董事、是中英商業活動的常客，在各大活動場合發言倡導國際合作、跨國教育。他一直致力于與中國企業建立有利于兩國的長期伙伴關系，開展廣泛合作，以滿足中國對技術和人才的要求，以及西方國家對市場的需求。 以學校為紐帶，搭建中英科技、經貿合作和文化交流的橋梁，陸校長對高等教育和中英合作所作出的貢獻被中英雙方肯定。今年元旦節，他獲得了英國女王頒發的大英帝國官佐勛章(Officer of the Order of the British Empire, OBE)。去年9月，他獲得了寧波授予外國專家的最高榮譽——茶花獎。 2015年，由于在促進中英兩國友好關系、經貿合作方面作出的杰出貢獻，陸校長獲得了英國48家集團俱樂部和中國駐英國大使館聯合頒發的“破冰者”獎項。2013年，他還榮獲長白山友誼獎。
The Provost of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) has been recognised for his contribution to the development of Zhejiang province. Professor Chris Rudd OBE, who is also a Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nottingham UK, was awarded the West Lake Friendship award by Zhejiang Provincial Government. Established in 1997, the award is the highest honour the Zhejiang province can bestow upon a foreign national, recognising their contribution to the social and economic development of the province, whether in business and technology or culture and education. Professor Rudd received the award in Hangzhou, along with 49 other awardees from different countries, who represented a range of fields. He said: “I am delighted to accept this honour not for myself but the community of students and staff at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC). In 2004, Zhejiang provincial government and the city of Ningbo made a bold decision to invite the University of Nottingham to establish the first Sino-foreign University in China. Since then, with continuous support from the provincial and municipal government, UNNC has become the international yardstick by which transnational education projects are measured. We were the first, but I continue to believe that we are the best! “Our talented graduates are prized by renowned employers and Global top 10 universities. Many of them benefit from UNNC as a springboard to overseas study, but 90% return to China to contribute to the compelling local economic opportunities. “UNNC welcomes exceptional researchers and to create knowledge with a practical purpose and to repay the trust of our host city. Many discoveries from UNNC laboratories have already been transferred to real-world solutions, supporting economic growth in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province and beyond. “Leaving aside personal pride, I hope that our UK partners, WanLi education group and local government can take satisfaction in this spectacular return on their bold investment in UNNC and the public acknowledgement via our West Lake Award. “As UNNC celebrates its 15 year anniversary, we will continue to drive our quality standards, delivering for our stakeholders and creating research capacity and social outreach that supports local economic ambitions.” Alongside his international reputation as a material scientist, Professor Rudd has broad experience of the transfer and commercialisation of research. Since becoming Provost at UNNC in 2015, he has led on enhancing the quality of both research performance and student outcomes. Professor Rudd has played an integral role in furthering both Nottingham and the UK’s relationship with China. His leadership of UNNC has been recognised through numerous British and international awards and he is a board member of the China-Britain Business Council.
